Draw a Map

1. Make sure that the [Snap] and the [Auto alt key] are activated.
If they are not activated, click them to activate.
If you control the mouse by your left hand, click the menu [Options] > [Handedness] > [Left-handed].

2. Type the key 'G' > 'G' (If you've choose the [Left-handed], type the key 'H' > 'H').
The [Grid and snap setup] menu will be activated, and the [Grid and snap setup] dialog will be displayed.
Select the [Snap] page and set 0.2 inches in the horizontal snapping distance.
Click the [OK] button.

3. Type the key 'S' > 'R' (If you've choose the [Left-handed], type the key 'L' > 'U').
Make sure that the [Rectangle tool] has been activated.

4. Hold down the mouse left button at the upper left area of the canvas.
Drag the mouse toward the bottom right direction, and release the left button.
A rectangle will be made.

5. Make another small rectangle on the large rectangle.

6. Activate the [Polyline tool].

7. See the following figure.
Click the mouse left button at [1]. Drag the mouse and click the left button at [2]. Click the left button at [3] and push the ESC key at [4].

8. Activate the menu [Objects] > [Properties].
Choose the [Polyline] page, and set [Close] in the [Both ends of polyline].
Push the [OK] button.

9. Make sure the polyline has became the enclosed.

10. Activate the [Figure edit tool].

11. Control handles are displayed on the every joint of the polyline.

Click the mouse left button at the bottom right control handle [1].
Hold down the shift key and click the mouse left button at the bottom left control handle [2].
After the click, release the shift key.
The joints [1] and [2] will be selected.

13. Stay the mouse pointer at the selected joint, and click the mouse right button.
The following popup menu will be displayed.
Activate the [Properties] command.

14. The [Properties] dialog is displayed.
Choose the [Joint] page and set [Edge joint] in the [Style].
Push the [OK] button.

15. Make sure that the front control handle and the back control handle have been displayed.
See the following figure, 'F' is pointing to the front control handle and 'b' is pointing to the back control handle.

16. Drag the front and back control handles, and make a curve of the straight line.
After the dragging, push the ESC key and deactivate the [Figure edit tool].

17. Stay the mouse pointer on the polyline, and hold down the mouse right button.
Drag the mouse pointer toward the bottom direction, and release the mouse button.
A popup menu will be displayed, then choose the [Duplicate] command.

18. Activate the [Figure edit tool] and select the upper left and upper right joint.
You can select two or more joints by holding down the mouse left button and dragging the mouse pointer.

19. Hold down the mouse left button at the selected joint and drag the mouse pointer toward the bottom direction.

20. Release the mouse left button. See the following figure.
Push the ESC key. The [Figure edit tool] will be deactivated.

21. Select the upper polyline and activate the [Figure edit tool].
Stay the mouse pointer at the middle of the curve.

22. Click the mouse right button.
A popup menu will be displayed. Then select the [Insert joint] command.

23. Make sure that a joint has been inserted.


24. Insert another joint near the last inserted one.

25. Select both the joints and click the mouse right button on the joint.
A popup menu will be displayed. Then choose the [Disconnect joints] command.

26. Make sure that the joints have been disconnected.

27. Insert another two joints in the top straight line and disconnect them.

28. Make sure the polyline has been split.

29. Make the closed polylines of the opened polylines.

30. Select the left polyline and activate the [Figure edit tool].
Select the bottom right joint and activate the [Properties] command.

31. The [Properties] dialog is displayed.
Choose the [Joint] page and set [No front control handle] in the [Style].
Push the [OK] button.

32. Select the right polyline and activate the [Figure edit tool].
Select the bottom left joint and activate the [Properties] command.

33. The [Properties] dialog is displayed.
Choose the [Joint] page and set [No back control handle] in the [Style].
Push the [OK] button.

34. Make sure the edges have became sharp.

35. Deactivate the [Snap].

36. Move the joint and make the line vertical precisely.

37. Set the color like the following.

38. Activate the [Text tool].

39. Make a text box.

40. Type 'Here!' and push the ESC key.

41. Modify the [Font name selection] and [Font size selection]. Set appropriate font attributes.

42. Activate the [Center text].

43. Set the color to the text box.

44. Activate the [Rotation tool].

45. Drag the control handle and rotate the text box.
